Sea Bass

Sea Bass can be found along the beaches of our coastline. The black sea bass is a bottom species found around wrecks, reefs, piers, breakwaters, and over beds of shells, coral, rock, etc.

When we catch a sea bass on a rental rod, it is a matter of luck, because a different type of rod/reel set up is used to catch a sea bass which sits on the bottom of the ocean floor, often on rocks.

Some people bring their own rods, specifically used for sea bass fishing and fish on the bottom for this after they’ve caught enough blue fish, or to take a break from the action. Relatively speaking, compared to fighting a blue fish, there is no action in sea bass fishing.

Sea bass are mild tasting, delicious eating fish. Black sea bass are reported to live as long as 20 years.
